Finasteride is in a class of medications called 5-alpha reductase inhibitors.
Fincar (Generic Finasteride) is used to treat the condition
known as benign prostate hyperplasia or BPH. BPH
occurs in older men and results in an enlarged prostate
gland. Untreated BPH may be a
contributing factor in prostate cancer.
Fincar Intake Guidelines
You will be prescribed to take one
tablet a day, with or without food.
You should only use Fincar as directed by your
doctor.
Fincar Side Effects
- allergic reactions including rash, hives, itching and
swelling
- problems with ejaculation
- the following side effects do not occurred in more than 98% of men:
a decrease amount of semen; decrease in sex drive.
- breast tenderness and enlargement
- testicular pain.
Fincar Warnings
- It may take several months for the Fincar
to work.
- It lowers readings of the PSA
screening test for prostate cancer, so make sure the doctor knows you are taking Fincar.
- Do not stop taking Fincar (Generic Finasteride) without
checking with your doctor.
- Stop taking Fincar (Generic Finasteride) will result in a
return within one year to the same amount of baldness as when you
started.
- Women who are or may potentially be pregnant must not use
Fincar (Generic Finasteride).
- If a woman who is pregnant with
a male baby absorbs the active ingredient in Fincar, it may cause abnormalities of a male baby’s sex organs.
